Description
By Castelvecchio – son of Champion 3YO and now leading sire Dundeel, was a dynamic Inglis Millennium and Group 1-winning juvenile who trained on to an acclaimed Cox Plate performance as a Spring 3YO, followed by a Guineas triumph in the Autumn, Castelvecchio meets all the expectations of a top-drawer Australian stallion prospect. A medium-sized, superbly athletic individual, Castelvecchio has a pedigree entirely free of Danehill - making him a perfect match for Danehill-line mares such as this filly’s dam. Rated Timeform's co-Champion 2YO of Australia, Castelvecchio progressed mightily as a Spring 3YO to chase home Japanese Horse of the Year Lys Gracieux in the 2019 Cox Plate G1, earning a rating among the world's best 3YOs of that year. He then returned in the Autumn of 2020 to emulate his sire with a final triumph in the Rosehill Guineas G1. Castelvecchio covered 248 mares in his first two seasons and his first yearlings at Magic Millions in January averaged over $196,000.
