Patron of Power - Vet Report 24.2.23 Vet Report 1.8.22 - Post throat surgery reportDescription
It’s Decision Time – Do we race him, or do we sell him?
Never an easy question to answer. Emotions (or politics) can sometimes play a dominating overrider of a sensible business decision. Frustratingly, in our ownership group, not everybody is on the same page, which makes it even more difficult to fairly and equitably decide what’s best to do.
FYI - Please Note: We have attached to this webpage: 3 VIDEO CLIPS & 2 VET REPORTS & 4 PHOTOS
Patron of Power has promised the world, but he was a slower maturing type. He’s big and strong and has excellent trial form as you will see for yourself, which includes a 3-lengths demolition of his peers at his first trial back from a spell this preparation, on 21st February 23 at Deagon (10 days ago). (VIDEO ATTACHED)
At his debut trial as a 2yo on 19/ July 21 he ran second 1.2 lengths to ATHELRIC who went on and now won 6 and $669,905. We trialled a second time on 30/July when 5th behind Group horse REMARQUE (4 wins $376,500) and FIRE (3 wins $164,00). He was over the top in this trial, so we gave him 6 weeks off to freshen up and start again.
He came back and trialled on 13/December 21, Winning easily by 1.3 lengths. (VIDEO ATTACHED)
Then we trialled him again on 4/Jan 22 where he was disappointing. He pulled up with a small chip in his right knee. We had it removed. We elected to give him the full 6-months break which also gave us the time to see him develop into his frame.
However, you will see he has had just over 12 months off the scene between his trials. Yes – We had another issue with him which has also been rectified. He came back and started pre-training mid-July 22 but after just a couple of weeks, we got news he was making a noise. We consulted with our veterinarian, and he needed tieback surgery which was conducted the following week on 27 July 22. The result was successful, but another 4 months spell was needed to recuperate fully post-surgery. (See VET REPORT Attached)
He resumed in November 22 with 3 weeks pre-training and was reviewed getting a full pass mark. We changed our plans and instead of sending him to our Newcastle based trainer, we felt he would be very well placed in Brisbane, so on the 30th November we sent him up to our Brisbane trainer JACK BRUCE to polish him for us. Just over 10 weeks after arriving with Jack, we trialled Patron Of Power on 21/2/23 and he blew them away.
It’s here where political instability in the ownership group came to the fore. The horse is ready to go racing. Some in the ownership want to sell straight away after the impressive trial win whilst others want to race him. Those that wanted to sell put an unrealistic value on the equity shares to their partners to buy them out and this was rejected.
The only transparent and equitable thing to do, is to put the horse up for Unreserved Sale on the open market through this online auction and let all market forces determine his true value.
He could be a lovely horse for export to Asia or alternatively he could be perfect for Perth, Brisbane, Adelaide, etc. Importantly, we have a horse who is ready to go and can be purchased now to be ready to go racing in a few weeks’ time. We just sent PATRON OF POWER to Kolora Lodge at Waterford for a few days to free up much needed box space for Jack and to also keep the owners’ costs down whilst we wait for this sale to conclude.
Off his formlines he appears to be up to city class – that’s obvious. Plus, we have over $10,000 in training fees in him this prep and best of all - he still has his easiest race win in him – his maiden.
As with every horse we offer online, we offer them for unreserved sale to dissolve the co-ownership. Therefore, with confidence you know he’s on the market from the opening bid.
We have attached a secondary independent vet certificate as at 24 February 23 for your review. (See VET REPORT Attached)
Also, we have a short video clip of him at Jack’s stable the day after the trial. (VIDEO ATTACHED)
There is nothing else to tell – it’s all here and disclosed - but we are happy to answer questions. Prior to the close of this auction, we welcome your inspection of PATRON OF POWER at Kolora Lodge by appointment. Whilst we have shared independent vet reports done specifically for us, we always recommend potential purchasers should arrange their own vet inspection to rely upon
Good Luck!
