READ ABOUT IT - is a stunning yearling colt by Champion High Chaparral Stallion WROTE out of the unraced IFRAAJ Dam DIGGILOU who is the half sister to the Group 1 performed PERFECT RHYME - 2nd Place getter in the Australian Oaks to BONNEVAL, a multiple race winner and consistent Group 3 & Listed Place Getter. This is her 2nd Foal and the 1st is an unraced 2YO.
The colt is officially named “READ ABOUT IT”. His pedigree stacks up exceptionally well - littered with Northern Dancer and the Super Mare “SPECIAL” on both sides of the page, which is not common. As a weanling, this colt was very well built, big boned, great muscle density, well conformed and a great attitude.
LOU as he is known - has already been broken in and is now spelling in New Plymouth (New Zealand) and has been placed with leading NZ Trainer Robbie Patterson. Robbie is currently 3rd on the NZ Trainers Premiership and has an incredible strike rate of 3.9. That's right - he wins in less than every 4th start!!!!
I have attached some video's of his progress with the breakers and he is well ahead of the pack. He still has a lot of growing to do, and will be gelded. The plan is to stimulate his skeleton, enhance bone density and develop his mind/confidence, with regular short bursts in/out of work/stables to prepare him for the first 2YO races of the season (September 2023). We are confident he can win early, which will automatically qualify him for the 2YO Karaka Million Race, late January 2024. This will allow enough “contingency time” to change plans - if needed.

As a team, we have done this before – but on a tighter time frame - with the likes of Global Thinking. This boy is much bigger and stronger and I am confident we have a serious option to work with. The family consistently lays down Black Type progeny with each generation and we will have a serious racehorse to press on with his 2YO/3YO seasons. The Blue Diamond is a logical option following on from the KARAKA Million.
