ZELGARIA is a very promising 2YO Colt who raced really well on debut when he just didn’t quite have the experience to beat the winner. Due to a lack of races for him in the immediate future we elected to back him up quite quickly on Wednesday and he did a fabulous job in winning. He was always going to win but you can see that he doesn’t quite know how to finish his race off which is very encouraging moving to his future as when he works it out he might just be a very nice horse. That may take a set of blinkers or other but once he becomes more focussed there might just be something bigger in store for him. To be honest when he came into work for this preparation he hadn’t shown a whole lot despite his riders continually saying he gave them a good feel but all he has done this preparation is improve and go forward which is most encouraging.
We will see how the horse pulls up now but it is likely he will have an easy few weeks now with races like the Oxlade and Tattersalls Stakes, 1300 & 1400m Listed races for 2YO’s for $160,000 at Eagle Farm in June at Eagle Farm nice races for him. We do think he is a horse that is going to appreciate getting to 1400m or even a touch beyond. He is Bobs and Vobis eligible and another option is a 1300m race at Rosehill worth more than $100,000 to the winner including Bobs.
He is a lovely sound horse with a good temperament and easy to work with. We own a nice piece of the horse and are looking to welcome an owner into the stable with what we think is a nice horse with a good future.
