Description
This is the rarest of opportunities to buy an international Gr1-winning mare in an online sale. Stormy Lucy won the Gr1 Matriarch Stakes at Del Mar beating a high class international field of 14 other mares and accrued two other Graded Stakes wins and no less than 3 other Gr1 placings in a 34 start career illustrating her soundness and toughness, with all of these stakes performances coming on turf. She has twice sold as a broodmare for in excess of over $600k.
Stormy Lucy is a daughter of one of the most successful sons of the great speed sire Storm Cat in Stormy Atlantic whose 111 SWs include 8 Gr1 winners of which Stormy Lucy is obviously one. This mare is a half-sister to the dam of Gr2 winner Big Runnuer. While her dam is a half-sister to Gr3 winner Moonwalk and SW Thatswhatimean.
This mare’s first two foals are both winners while two years ago her Fastnet Rock yearling colt fetched $450k at the Inglis Easter Yearling Sale (now in work with Kelly Schweida). She has huge upside with a 2yo colt by Champion Sire Snitzel currently in work with Annabel Neasham and a weanling filly by proven Gr1 sire Dundeel.
Stormy Lucy sells in foal to Maurice, sire of last season’s Champion 3YO Hitotsu. Maurice is also the sire of other Gr1 winner Mazu, Geraldina & Pixie Knight.
