Description
This good looking, correct Safeguard colt is typical of his sire. Great bone, strong hindquarters and shoulder and looks like an early runner.
He is the third foal to the now deceased Foxwedge mare Braixen, herself a half-sister to the very talented race mare Brief Embrace and boasts a family littered with black type and two-year-old winners.
The first foal, this colt’s full brother has come off two trial seconds against what appears to be talented horses and heads into his first start this preparation at Narrogin on Saturday.
The second foal by Rommel is an unnamed two-year-old and has been retained by the breeders.
SAFEGUARD continues to produce excellent results off limited numbers.
Overall, he has had 94 runners for 63 winners and 9 stakes performers. This equates to 67.0% winners to runners, 9.6% stakes performers to runners and 14% stakes performers to winners. While his two-year-olds continue to perform extremely well (currently leading 2yo sire in WA and in the top 20 nationally), Safeguard’s progeny are training on as three and four year olds and have won from 1000m to 1600m on all types of going.
