Description
Trapeze Artist Colt from strong black type family
By one of the hottest young sires in the country, out of a ZABEEL mare – arguably the greatest broodmare sire ever! This colt is out of a fantastic proven mare, herself hailing from an incredibly strong black type family. Claystone is the dam of five runners, ALL are winners including the seven time winner of over $300,000, Destiny’s Own (Sepoy). She now gets a substantial upgrade with TRAPEZE ARTIST, too.
This colt’s second dam is littered with black type, and catalogues beautifully. From the family of the outstanding sprinter miler, WALKING OR DANCING (8 time winner of over $600,000), Champion stayer & Melbourne Cup winner VOW AND DECLARE and Epsom Handicap winner HAURAKI amongst a host of other Group winners and performers. As is pedigree suggests, he is a scopey, athletic colt and will just keep improving.
He is by the elite racehorse, and highest rated son of champion sire Snitzel, TRAPEZE ARTIST, who is having a magnificent start to his stud career. A Black Opal winner and Sires Produce placed at 2, TRAPEZE ARTIST went onto win four Group Ones including the Sire making Golden Rose, TJ Smith, All Aged & Canterbury Stakes, breaking two track records in the process!
TRAPEZE ARTIST has been an instant success at stud and an incredibly popular addition to the Widden roster, covering 618 mares in his first four seasons. He’s also proved popular in the sales ring, incredibly his first crop sold for up to $850,000 and has continued to be in high demand. But it’s on the racetrack where his progeny are really excelling. Currently leading the charge in the First Season Sires table for winners, TRAPEZE ARTIST has sired five individual 2yo winners from just 17 starters, including the city winning and Pago Pago 4th, INTRODUCING and the recent most impressive first starter, TUMBLING. He is also responsible for the best maiden in the land, FACILE, who was beaten by the narrowest of margins in the Group Two Reisling Stakes. He has all the makings of an elite sire of the future!
