Scapini is a lightly-raced 3YO filly by RIBCHESTER, winner of four Group 1 races at the mile and crowned Europe's Champion Miler at 3YO & 4YO. In his breeding career, he has sired 11 stakes performers including six stakes winners.
Our filly is out of a half-sister to NZ Filly of the Year, KIRRAMOSA, winner of the Group 1 VRC Oaks and Wakeful Stakes. Her 3rd dam was also Top NZ Filly of the Year, winning the Group 1 1000 Guineas.
Scapini has had just 6 starts, including a very narrow defeat (0.1L) when 2nd at Mornington in December 2022. After our purchase in late January, she had her first start under the care of Gavin Bedggood in mid-February. This was in an extremely hot heat of the Pakenham Maiden Series worth $75,000. She travelled well into the straight and was held up at a vital stage, finishing 7th behind:
- Gringotts - won last 3 incl. last start in a $150k race
- El Soleado - dominant maiden winner last start
- Moya Lass - very impressive maiden winner last start

Scapini has had a long first preparation which showed at her latest start and she has now headed for a well-deserved break. She will have 6 weeks now at Briarwood Farm before returning to the stables of Gavin Bedggood.
