Description
SIRE: Stratosphere is a GRP 3 Placed son of SNITZEL, purchased by Newgate Farm/China Horse Club for 925k as a future stallion prospect of which they are regularly buying the best yearling colts for stud prospects. He ran a fast 2nd in the GRP 3 Canonbury Stakes beaten a nose but unfortunately he suffered a career ending injury that never saw him fullfil the potential that was expected of him. He was placed at the commercial Grenville Stud in Tasmania where he has had a flying start to his first crop with 3 pre Christmas winners, 2 Listed Stakes placegetters and for a number of months was the leading first season sire on individual winners. Stratosphere is a full brother to 2 Stakeswinners in Sprightly Lass and Le Cordon Bleu and at the recent Inglis Easter Yearling Sale had a full brother sell to Coolmore Stud for 1.6 million. This a stallions family in demand. Stratospheres yearlings from his 2nd crop this year averaged 53k at the live sale with the top lot selling above 100k. They have been purchased by all the right judges.
DAM: Octangle is a successful producing mare with not only all stock winning but all at metropolitan level. Her best has been the Listed Bendigo Guineas winner, WRITTEN UP, with tough mare Fontein Diamond toping her wins with MVRC Country Mile, Raktangle (Win Chance) and Power King (500k yearling) both winning in Hong Kong and Miss Fontangle winning in Darwin after starting her career at Flemington.
THIS HORSE: The yearling was not nominated for the Tasmanian Yearling Sale as it was decided early on being a November foal rather than rush him for a February Sale, allow him the luxury of a more flexible sale date. He was a big foal and has always been a standout with his paddock mates and currently stands at 15.2hh. He has had a more extended slower preparation to allow for his growth without pushing him to be ready, As you can see he has a big strong hindquarter and very long legs with more natural growth to come. Like his family on both sides he will develop into a sprinter/miler which fits into plenty of the popular races.
He had gelding surgery approx 6 weeks ago due to an issue with the family jewels and he has made a full recovery post op with no complications. Up until then he has had a full sale preparation and is still in a small paddock allowing for a decent break ready to go straight to the breakers.
He has Xrays & Report available, Scope Video, Tasbred paid and by successfully purchasing him from an Inglis Sale he is eligible for payment entry into the Inglis Race Series. He is a big strong horse that has really come into his own over the past few months and is a worthy horse to consider for all the buyers looking to put one into their ownership team.
