Description
This developing colt is by Group 1 producing sire STAR TURN, who is currently striking at rate of 71.3% winners to runners. From his first two crops, STAR TURN has sired 14 Stakes performers already and he is the sire of Group 1 heroine STARTANTES. In the 2020-21 season STAR TURN had the highest 2yo winners to runners ratio in Australia.
The colt’s dam, ZAGARA, is by multiple Champion Sire MORE THAN READY (USA). She, in turn, is out of Gr.1 second placegetter GRAND DAUGHTER (REDOUTE'S CHOICE x Sunday Valentine by SUNDAY SILENCE) and belongs to a current and active family. GRAND DAUGHTER is a full sister to the Stakes performed EL DAANA, who is the dam of recent dual Group 1 winner AL MUTHANA (Kenilworth King's Plate Gr.1 & Greyville Gold Challenge Stakes Gr.1) and multiple Group winner WAWAIL.
MORE THAN READY (USA) is a well renowned broodmare sire and has been a Top 10 broodmare sire by earnings every year since and including 2017. Stakes winners from his daughters include Golden Slipper winner - Shinzo, Champion Hong Kong Sprinter – Wellington, Coolangatta, Bivouac, Miracles of Life, Rebel Dane, Delectation, Forbidden Love, Media Award, Unencumbered, Tiger of Malay, etc. More Than Ready’s broodmare daughters have produced 317 Stakes performers so far, which accounts for a massive 10.8% Stakes performers to runners rate.
The colt was born and reared at Vinery Stud. He has a co-operative nature, is well conformed and has been well handled. Recently scoped, grade 1, pass.
He is ZAGARA's second foal - the first foal, by Puissance de Lune, was sold at the 2022 Adelaide Magic Millions Yearling Sale for $110,000 and she is in training with Malua Racing.
