Description
Indy Rock is a Danehill free quality elegant mare by the highly successful sire and broodmare sire BERNARDINI. She is a half-sister to the listed winner Galiano. Her dam Gilded Minstrel is a half-sister to STORM SONG, DIAMOND OMI and Happy Tune with the latter being the dam of stakes winners HIGH COTTON and SYMPHONY SID. This is the highly successful ORDER OF ST GEORGE and BETTER LIFE family. She has a strong pedigree that she has passed on to her three foals to race, all being winners. Her fourth foal is a yearling.
BERNARDINI mares are well-sought after and his credentials as a broodmare sire need no introduction.
She has been part of the broodmare band since she decided she was not interested in being a racehorse and has always been a straightforward and easy mare to handle and manage. In recent years she missed to Artie Schiller through no fault of her own and was covered by Omaha Beach in 2020 with a resulting (now) yearling filly. She missed on one late foal heat cover to Vino Rosso in 2021 and is currently in foal to the outstandingly bred JOHANNES VERMEER to pick up the Order of St George cross – Galileo – that has worked in her dam line family.
JOHANNES VERMEER was a successful G1 winning racehorse at 2 years old and later in his career was G1 stakes placed in Australia including running second to Rekindling in the Melbourne Cup - demonstrating his versatility and strength as a racehorse. His dam is Inca Princess by Holy Roman Emperor and is the dam of five black type winners. The mating was carefully planned to take advantage of the successful A.P. Indy /Galileo nick, and the success that it has had in her family as demonstrated by Order of St George – and the was stallion selected on the strength of his pedigree and race performance.
There is plenty of upside with this mare. She has two of her three foals still racing and one to come. She has proven that she produces quality foals and has a 100% success rate as a broodmare.
She has the Seattle Slew club foot (front fore) that has never been a problem for her - as it wasn’t for him in his racing and stud career – and is easily managed with regular farrier attention.
Inspection is welcome. This is a genuine and regretful reduction sale – she has been a great mare for the owner and the decision to sell her has been a tough one. Her reserve is realistically set to cover the stallion fee.
