Description
Pontivy is a well-related daughter of Tavistock from the city-winning Not A Single Doubt mare, Belle de Jeu. She is a lovely mover and a strong-bodied mare who stands over a lot of ground at 16HH. She has good bone and good sized feet and she has let down into a quality mare,
Pontivy was purchased as a yearling by Peter Moody Racing for $150,000 at the New Zealand Bloodstock National Yearling Sales. Pontivy was a winner at 2 and placed at 3 from limited starts.
Pontivy’s first foal, a colt by Nicconi, died as a very young foal after sustaining a fractured hock in a paddock accident. Her second foal is a filly by the exciting young Snitzel stallion, Shamus Award. This filly will be sold as a yearling at next year’s Inglis Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale.
This mare’s dam, Belle de Jeu is a ½ sister to two stakes performers and she has already left 3 winners from just the 4 foals to race.
Pontivy is positive in foal to the young Yulong Stud stallion Tagaloa with an October foaling date. Tagaloa had a distinguished racing career winning the VATC Group 1 Blue Diamond and running a very creditable 4th in the Group 1 Golden Slipper as a 2YO. He stood his 2nd season at Yulong Stud in 2022 at an advertised service fee of $30,250.
Pontivy is one of several mares now offered for sale to dissolve a breeding partnership.
