Description
Young Speedily bred mare in foal to Astern.
Although Menorca was unplaced from her only 2 career starts as a racehorse she certainy showed plenty of speed when winning a metropolitan trial at the begining of her only racing preparation. She is a young mare by Capitalist that hails from a family littered with black type performers. She is closely related to the three-time Group One winner, County Tyrone and from the same family as the dual Group One winning speedster, Samaready (sold for $1,800,000 at the 2020 Chairmans Sale) – herself the dam of Magic Millions 2yo Classic winner, Exhilarates. It’s a family with plenty of precocity. Exhilarates this year produced a colt by Anamoe’s sire, Street Boss, and will continue to improve this already deep black type pedigree.
Menorca is being sold in foal to the hot, young sire Astern. She conceived on her first cover and will produce a nice, early foal for the successful purchaser next year.
Astern is having his best season yet siring two G1 winners, Caulfield Guineas winner Golden Mile and recent Australasian Oaks winner Affaire A Suivre. Plus he has promising G2 winner Aft Cabin and G3 winner Parisal likely to chase further black type over the Winter months. Astern's record will no doubt continue to improve and he is a sire on the up, mares in foal to him are likely to be in high demand whilst he continues this upward trend.
