Description
KERCHAK is a lovely 4YO, 16hh gelding who has proven to have plenty of ability on the track being placed in all 3 of his career starts – with a race record of 3 starts for 2 wins and a second with these placings and wins ranging from 1200m to 1650m.
At just his second career start, KERCHAK’s promise shone through, securing his maiden win over 1350m by over four lengths! His winning time was only two-tenths outside of the track record. He then went on to win again that preparation at Doomben over 1650m.

Sadly after his second classy win, KERCHAK sustained a tendon injury (at the beginning of 2022) and has since complete his rehabilitation programme with equine thoroughbred rehab guru Lee Evison at his property in Victoria.
On his return to training in March this year, the horse tweaked his tendon the week before he was about to trial, and was advised to rest for six weeks before any further training can resume.
KERCHAK is currently in the last three weeks of his spell before returning to training so will be ready to go on with. He will be best suited to a smaller stable to ensure his previous injury is well managed.
He has done particularly well in the Queensland sunshine blossoming into a lovely style of horse who, as you can see from his form, is a highly versatile horse being able to race on a variety of track gradings and over varying distances.
KERCHAK hails from New Zealand, being by TARZINO who is a son of the late TAVISTOCK. TARZINO has had a wonderful start at stud, having already produced TWO G1 winners from just 38 winners! Including the G1 BRC Queensland Oaks winner GYPSY GODDESS as well as JUNGLE MAGNATE – BEAUTYVERSE (HK) who won the G1 SAJC South Australian Derby. With a total of 6 stakes horses to date he is a sire on the rise!
KERCHAK’s dam has produced four winners from five named foals and is herself a full-sister to VANILLA ICE CREAM who is the dam of RANTING; whom won the G3 MRC Blue Sapphire Stakes and placed in a further four stakes races.
The family also includes superior race-filly DANELAGH and stakes winners such as DIZELLE, SUBSCRIBE – VENGENCE OF RAIN (HK), PINOT, DIZLAGO, ATHELRIC, OLD NORTH and many more!
KERCHAK is currently based in QLD and looks to be a progressive type of prospect for his new owners as he reaches his full maturity this season.
