Description
A rare opportunity to acquire a young, maiden mare from one of Australia’s greatest distaff families.
This maiden mare is a daughter of Shalaa, Champion 2YO Colt of France & Great Britain and a dual Gr1 winner at 2. Shalaa, like I Am Invincible, is a son of Invincible Spirit and is now the sire of 15 SWs, 7 of them Group winners - including Irish Gr1 winner No Speak Alexander, Magic Millions victor Shaquero, Group-winning juveniles Seven Veils & Semillion and current 2yo Group winners Jennilala and Recommendation.
Marsanne is out of a Stratum daughter of Group winning Encosta de Lago mare Precious Lorraine, herself the dam of SW Meuse. Her 3rd dam Monsoon Wedding is a full sister to Caulfield Guineas winner and multiple Champion Sire Redoute’s Choice. This is the hugely successful family descended from the imported American mare Dancing Show, ancestress of 37 SWs including other Gr1 winners Shoals, Hurricane Sky, Umatilla, Platinum Scissors, Al Maher, In Italian, Gathering & Manhattan Rain.
There is massive upside in this mare’s immediate family. Her dam Alsace has a yearling colt by Gr1 sire Shalaa and a weanling colt by Champion 2YO Admire Mars. Granddam precious Lorraine has a 2yo filly and yearling colt by I Am Invincible plus a Dundeel weanling colt and is in foal to Wootton Bassett.
Marsanne sells with a positive pregnancy test to an early September cover by Sunday Silence grandson Admire Mars, a triple Gr1-winning miler, unbeaten Champion 2YO of Japan and the only 3YO winner of the Hong Kong Mile. Admire Mars achieved six wins, 4 placings and A$6.5 million prizemoney from just 13 starts - all but two of them in Group company. He maintained his juvenile rating of 118 to rank as Japan's Co-Champion 3YO miler and among the world's best 3YO turf milers of 2019. Admire Mars' first four Japanese foals offered by Northern Farm at the 2022 JRHA Select Sale averaged A$810,000 with a top price of A$1.5 million paid for one of his colts.
