Description
Septaria is a half-sister to the ill-fated Big Parade (8 wins from 19 starts). This highly gifted Group 3 winner/Group 1 placed sprinter looked to be in for a career defining preparation when he bolted away to a 21-length barrier trial win at Warwick Farm in late July. Could Big Parade have won a Group 1 or a race like The Everest? Tragically we will never know the answer.

Septaria was a beautiful yearling. Selling for $300,000 at the 2021 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale, she was the equal third highest priced yearling filly from Hellbent’s first crop. Standing 16.0hh, Septaria is a well-balanced mare with a lovely depth of girth, whom we would expect will let down into a wonderful broodmare. She is reported to have no vices.

Septaria comes from possibly the most prepotent Australian female line we’ve seen in recent times. Think of Snippets (Champion Australian 3yo Sprinter, a leading sire), Forensics (Champion Australian 2yo Filly, Golden Slipper), Zizou (Champion Australian 2yo Colt), King’s Legacy (ATC Sires’ Produce Stakes, ATC Champagne Stakes), Oohood (ATC Flight Stakes), Not A Single Doubt (a leading sire), Rewaaya (MRC Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes), Sense of Occasion (BRC Doomben Cup), Ertijaal (Kenilworth Cape Derby), and rising star Olentia (5 wins from 6 starts).

On paper it shows Septaria was unplaced in both her starts. We feel strongly this is probably not a true reflection of her ability. In February earlier this year, she managed to comfortably win a Gold Coast barrier trial over 1050m. And then eight days later at her first start, if you take the time to look at the race video, you will see she was unlucky (was severely checked, plus was also blocked for a run at the top of the straight) and did well to finish 3.5 lengths from the winner, and just over 1 length from the third placed horse. In our opinion, there was ability present.

Septaria has been retired from racing and is being offered for genuine unreserved sale as a broodmare prospect. She is presently in good health and condition, and as you can see from the attached breeding soundness certificate, her ovaries are starting to move along in the right direction, which should give the purchaser a chance of getting an early season cover into her.
