Description
Elsie Em is a maiden mare, strong, powerful with size and scope and good confirmation that will furnish into a great broodmare type.
She stands at 16.1hh, has a great temperament, is easy to do anything with and a pleasure to have around.
Unfortunately a leg injury as a young filly and throat surgery have not allowed her to reach her potential of what we believed to be above average that she showed us early on. For this reason she is being listed as "not to race" being sold as a broodmare only.
Her sire Star Witness needs no introduction - he is a constant in the winners list week in and week out and probably not known by most he is the dam sire of current super sprinting mare Bella Nipotina.
Her dam Dats A Lass (More than Ready) was a metro winner in Sydney and is a half sister to Group winning sprinting mare Miss Leonidas and a half brother is Group 1 winner the former top class stayer Newport - a variety of speed and stamina through the pedigree.
The current racing stock coming through from Dats A Lass include lightly raced 4yo Caravaggio mare Samita, who is resuming racing this Sunday along with two unnamed half brothers by highly regarded stallions in Mendelssohn and Magna Grecia.
This is a regretful sale - the current owners are not breeders but know she will be a great addition to any breeders broodmare band.
