GEMINGA stands at approximately 15.2hh. She is a tough, honest mare who really wants to run. She has never really run a bad race - only running out of fitness first up or having had bad luck in transit.
In her first race prep, as a 3yo, she broke the 900m Mount Gambier track record at her second start, posted three wide, and had another strong win over the Mount Gambier 900m.
In this, her second race prep, she was exposed too early and ran out of puff first up over 1000m at Morphettville Parks. She then placed third at Morphettville Parks, and third at Warrnambool in a classy field. She is fit and sound, ready to run immediately for her new owners.
She is a pleasure to ride and handle, floats and trucks beautifully either with company or on her own. She has been on a treadmill, has worked at the beach and swims.
BREEDING SUMMARY
By STAR TURN, sire of the tough filly STARTANTES. GEMINGA is the second foal of the speedy Poet's Voice mare SEVEN SONNETS, a half-sister to G2 winning sprinter NADEEM, descending from the brilliant G1 Coolmore Classic-winning mare PORTO ROCA, also grand-dam of SILENT SEDITION.
GEMINGA is a full sister to SONNET STAR. Sonnet Star won over $200,000, and ran a .9L 4th in the G3 Red Roses Stakes at Flemington in 2021. She has been retained by Vinery Stud, expecting her first foal by EXCEEDANCE this season.
