Sly Boots is a 3YO gelding by Toronado out of the 5-time winning Bel Esprit mare, Miss Softhands.
This gelding’s dam is Butter Sweet who is the dam of 20 time winner,Hellova Street, and Listed winner, Streetwise Savoire.
Sly Boots is lightly raced with just 6 starts to his name for 1 win and 3 placings. His sole win came over 1300m on a Good track at Kensington and his most recent start was on the 18th November at Newcastle in the Group 3 Spring Stakes where he finished 4th.
On 31st December Sly Boots was found to be walking lame following pace work the previous day and an ultrasonographic examination of his off fore suspensory ligament body and branches revealed no visible lesion in his suspensory branches with a small grade IV/IV lesion in the body of his suspensory ligament from 16-18cm below the accessory carpal bone, involving approximately 10% of the crosssectional area of the body.
Our vets recommend Sly Boots to have a minimum of six months spell for his suspensory ligament to heal which should be rescanned prior to commencing any work to ensure that adequate healing has occurred (vet report attached). He is almost 2 months into his recommended spell and will be reassessed on 24th June to see if he is fit to return to pre-training.
