Description
This ALABAMA EXPRESS Colt is bred on the exact cross as debutant Stakes placed 2YO filly, EXPRESS YO’SELF.
This Colt is by Australia’s leading first-season sire, ALABAMA EXPRESS. He is out of a STREET CRY half-sister to Stakes and 2YO winner BUCKINGHAMPSHIPE and from the family of dual G1 sprinter STRYKER.
His dam, Fataawy is by world-renowned Broodmare sire, STREET CRY. She is the dam of three named foals including the dual sprint winning Brisbane galloper DURNSTEIN.
Additionally, the sibling, trained by Tom Dabernig, in FLYING FORTUNE is a 3YO filly by GRUNT. She has had one race start last preparation but looks to have her foot on the till by recently winning an official 900m jump out in Victoria.
ALABAMA EXPRESS was off the mark early with his two-year-old daughter KARAVAS charging to victory in the Moorundi Classic at Murray Bridge. He followed this up when his imposing son Shangri La Express produced a dominant victory in the Kirkham Plate at Royal Randwick, followed by an easy victory in the Million Dollar Golden Gift at Rosehill and a solid second at Royal Randwick last Saturday.
KARAVAS stepped out again in dominating fashion to secure victory in the G3 Ottawa S. on Oaks Day, handing Alabama Express his initial first-crop Stakes winner.
To-date ALABAMA EXPRESS has produced 5 individual winners of 7 races: KARAVAS, Shangri La Express, Poster Girl, Glasglow Lass and Alabama Lass.
This colt is bred on the formidable REDOUTE’S CHOICE x STREET CRY cross that has produced 23 SW, 14 GW and 5 G1 winners inc ANAMOE and FARNAN.
Yearlings offered at the major sales this year by ALABAMA EXPRESS have sold up to $400K at the Magic Millions, $310K at the Classic and $300K at Karaka.
