Description
Supagirl is a 5YO chestnut mare by Pride Of Dubai out of the winning Makfi mare, Mighty Girl, who is a half-sister to multiple Group 1 winner, Voix Du Nord. Mighty Girl is the dam of 3 foals to race for 2 winners and her second dam, Dame Edith, is the dam of 8 foals to race for 6 winners. Her third dam, Girl Of France, is a Listed winner and Group 2 placed and is the dam of Group 3 winner, Varxi, and Listed winner, Snow Cap.
Supagirl started her racing career in Ireland where she broke her maiden over 2012m at Navan on a Good track. She has 20 starts to her name for 4 wins and 4 placings and has earned prizemoney in excess of $150,000. Since coming out to Australia she’s raced 7 times. She ran 5th to Gin Martini (Group 3 Epona Stakes winner) on debut at Rosehill and at her next start over 2200m at Geelong she ran 2nd to Deny Knowledge who went on to win the Group 2 Matriarch Stakes. She broke her Australian maiden on 22nd October over 2100m in the Horsham Cup. She was on target to race in the Listed Hellova Street Stakes at Launceston on 28th February but unfortunately on 27th February she was found to have a thickened and painful near fore superficial digital flexor tendon (SDFT).
‘Supagirl’ will most likely require six to nine months spell for this tendon lesion to heal. She should be confined to a box or small yard for the first six weeks of her spell. Her tendon should be rescanned prior to commencing any work to ensure that adequate healing has occurred. Her prognosis for racing is fair to good, as long as she is given sufficient spell. Her prognosis as a broodmare is excellent.
