What a great job Lonhro's five times Gr.1 winning son Pierro has done at stud with his 36 stakes winners (seven at Gr.1 level) and now he is set to make a big impact as a broodmare sire with five stakes winners - including the dual Gr.1 winner Jacquinot - amongst the first 28 winners produced by his daughters.
Paname is a 5Y0 Pierro mare from a high class international family, her dam being a US bred half-sister to the stakes winners Dr Arbatach and Stern Opinion and to the dam of the Gr.1 galloper Decorated Invader - and the grandam of the Gr.1 Breeders Cup Juvenile winner Fire At Will.
Also from this prolific black-type family is the dual Gr.1 winner Lord North and Paname is a half-sister to the promising three-year-old Prevailed who, after a dominant maiden win last spring did not have much luck in the Gr.2 Sandown Guineas.
A winner in France, Paname's dam Prevalent is one of ten winners for her dam Helstra by the great Nureyev and that mare's Gr.1 Santa Anita Oaks winning dam Hail Atlantis by Seattle Slew is ancestress of 21 stakes winners.
Paname is being sold in foal to the exciting young stallion De Gaulle - a regally bred son of the recently retired Exceed And Excel and the Gr.1 mare Response; also dam of the Golden Slipper winner Estijaab and the Gr.3 speedster Remarque.
The foal will be bred on the highly successful Exceed And Excel/Lonhro combo (22 stakes winners amongst the 181 winners) and will boast multiple strains of the prolific Frizette family which the Exceed And Excel line picks up so well on... including a cross of My Charmer to whom two of Exceed And Excel's finest grandsons - Gold Trip and Thunder Snow - are line-bred.
Paname is an agile and compact mare with a nice head and beautiful, fluid movement. She is a very social mare, good to catch and float and she adapts well.
