Description
Maiden Flying Artie mare in foal to boom young sire ALABAMA EXPRESS.
A nicely bred mare, Ruby in the Sky was lightly raced out of the Group 2 winning mare LARSARLA who won the Group 2 AUCKLAND THOROUGHBRED BREEDERS STAKES. Lasarla is now owned by Kingstar Farm and has a pipeline of nice young horses to race including:
* Rocktagon - 3yo Russian Revolution (Rocktagon) in work with David Jolly.
* Unnamed Zoustar Yearling - to be trained by Qld trainer Rob Heathcote.
* In foal - 18 October cover to Russian Revolution
ALABAMA EXPRESS is arguably the hottest first season sire in Australia with 4 winners from his first 10 runners including an incredible 3 stakes performed horses:
* ALABAMA LASS - Group placed in the Matamata Breeders Stakes
* POSTER GIRL - Group placed in the B.J. McLachlan Stakes
* EXPRESS YO'SELF - stakes placed in the Merson Cooper Stakes
ALABAMA EXPRESS' best colt (Shangri La Express ) steps out in Saturday's G2 Todman Stakes with the Gai Waterhouse trained colt looking to stake his claim for the Golden Slipper start after winning the $1m Golden Gift before running second to boom colt Switzerland in the Pierro Plate.
Alabama Express stood for $22,000 last season with that fee expected to rise considerably as demand for the young stallion continues to soar.
At this years Magic Millions Sale (Book 1), Alabama Express yearlings averaged $273,000.
He followed that up with an average of $173,000 at this weeks Melbourne Premier Sale (Book 1) with a top price of $370,000.
Ruby in the Sky is a well built mare standing 16 hands. Due to niggling injuries, we didn't see the best of this mare on the track and she was retired to stud.
She comes with a positive pregnancy to Alabama Express and went into foal first cover (see attached certificate).
