Description
SELEQUE won 7 races – 6 of these Metropolitan wins – and over $300,000 in earnings. She last raced in the $1,000,000 GCTC Magic Millions Fillies and Mares Hcp (1300m) on the 13th January 2024. Coming from last at the 600m, SELEQUE ran home in one of the fastest last 600m splits of the race behind winner LADY LAGUNA. Owing to a niggling issue, her ownership group have decided to retire her from racing.

SELEQUE was extremely unlucky not to secure Black Type. On the 7th of May 2022, SELEQUE won a BM78 race over 1400m at the Gold Coast, carrying 56.5kg and running 1:26.86. She defeated $1 million plus earner SIBAAQ into second placing. Several races later, DZSENIFER won the Silk Stocking (Listed Race for Fillies and Mares) over the same distance and track conditions, carrying 54kgs and running 1:27.92 – just OVER A SECOND SLOWER than SELEQUE, and WITH 2.5KG'S LESS WEIGHT! SELEQUE also ran a faster last 600m that day as well. As they say, hindsight is 20/20 vision!!!

SELEQUE is a daughter to the all-conquering DEEP FIELD (by NORTHERN METEOR). Over the past three seasons, DEEP FIELD’S progeny has amassed over $65 million on the racetrack. The only Australasian stallion whose progeny have won more prize money over this period is I AM INVINCIBLE. A particularly well-bred horse, it will come as no surprise to see DEEP FIELD exceed as a Broodmare Sire, just as he has as a Sire.

SELEQUE’s dam EXTRA BUBBLY is a half-sister to three stakes winners: EXTRA ZERO ($1.7 million earner/dual Group 1 placed in the VRC Victoria Derby and Australian Cup), OPERETTA LASS (Sydney Group 3 winner) and JOHAN’S TOY (dual Listed Race winner/triple Group 1 placed in the AJC Doncaster Hcp, Epsom Hcp and STC Coolmore Classic).
