QUALITY YOUNG COMMERCIAL BROODMARE IN FOAL TO BETTER THAN READY.
This 2016 Hallowed Crown (Street Sense) mare has a pedigree page full of black type with four GROUP 1 winners within the first few dams. The mare herself is out of the multiple BLACK-TYPE winning and GROUP 2 placed, BERNICIA and is a half sister to the GROUP 2 winning, OLD NORTH and also his STAKES placed brother, Bryneich and sister IDA who is the dam of current BLACK-TYPE winning, ATHELRIC ( winner of $ 852k ).
This mare's dam BERNICIA is out of DANELAGH (the GROUP 1 Blue Diamond winner) and mother of three time GROUP 1 winner, VENGEANCE OF RAIN as well as DIZELLE (GROUP 1 Australian Oaks winner) who is the dam of PINOT (GROUP 1 VRC Oaks winner). This is a very active and well sought after Australian thoroughbred family.
Gwynedd is in foal to Queensland sire sensation, Better Than Ready, on a September cover. Better Than Ready stands for $27,500 and last year covered his largest ever book of mares. His yearlings have sold for up $530k and he currently sits comfortably in the Top 20 sires Australia-wide by prize-money. Better Than Ready presently is sixth position overall nationally on the Leading Sires by Winners table, ahead of the likes of Snitzel, Dundeel, Spirit of Boom, So You Think, Toronado and Pierro. He was previously Champion First Season Sire in Australia and Champion Queensland Sire. His results just seem to get better each year with the big Southern stables now also getting on-board.
The mare herself has good conformation and leaves really nice types. Gwynedd stands at 15.3 1/2 hands, she is a well balanced correct mare who is good in the crush and has no vices. She is a very easy mare to get in foal usually on the first cover. She is a pleasure to have in any paddock or when traveling.
