Descent is a daughter of leading international broodmare sire, STREET CRY.
She is out of the G2 winning and stakes-placed Danehill Dancer mare, DOWNHILL RACER, who is the dam of 3 horses to race for 3 winners.
Descent herself has had multiple horses out of her sell for $200,000 at the Magic Millions January Yearling Sale. Most recently, she has a Grunt named Pure Grunt that was purchased by esteemed judge Ken Keys from the 2022 Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale.
As a Broodmare sire, Street Cry needs no introduction. His daughters are responsible for 152 Stakes winners, 83 Group winners, and a total of 24 individual Group One winner’s inc FARNAN, LYRE, DAUMIER, SEPTEMBER RUN, CASCADIAN, and course Group One Cox Plate winner ROMANTIC WARRIOR.
We are offering this mare with a Lucky Vega Colt at food. An exceptional juvenile, LUCKY VEGA claimed the G1 Curragh Phoenix Stakes and placed 2nd in the G1 Newmarket Middle Park Stakes. As a three-year-old, he claimed placings at the elite level, including the G1 2000 Guineas and G1 Royal Ascot St James Palace Stakes.
Lucky Vega’s first crop of yearlings has been well supported by the market, selling upwards of $160,000 to leading buyers such as Annabelle Neasham, Baystone Thoroughbreds, Darby Racing, Bjorn Baker, Prime Thoroughbreds and Gollan Racing / John Foote. Such as the quality of his stock, he finished the 2024 Inglis Sydney Classic sale with 100% clearance.
Descent is offered in foal to our residential exciting young sire, GRUNT. We have bred this mare to Grunt on the very successful O’Reilly x Street Cry cross that, from under 150 runners, has produced 13 Stakes winners, 8 Group Winners, and dual Group One winners inc PRIDE OF JENNI and BELCLARE.
Grunt has had two Stakes winning Three-year-olds, of course, his flagship galloper Veight placed in the G1 Caulfield Guineas in the Spring and then won first up in the 2024 G2 Australia Guineas.
His additional Stakes winning 3YO is the quality Graeme Begg-trained filly Miraval Rose, she claimed the 1400m Listed Twilight Glow Stakes and ran a photo finish 2nd in the 1200m G3 MRC Thoroughbred Club Stakes.
