BARAQIEL is a 5yo son of Champion sire SNITZEL out of the very good racemare
ANGEL OF MERCY dam of current Gr3 winner AUTUMN ANGEL.
Great opportunity to get into a well bred gelding who has shown good ability right from the start.
He produced that ability at Sale last weekend winning on debut by 4Lengths.
Race Debut rundown-
He jumped well and trailed speedy fellow debutant Small Town Boss. It led clearly into the straight before Ben Allen sent Baraqiel after the leader.
The leader gave a good kick but Baraqiel went bang with 250m to go and left them standing forging on to a comfortable and impressive 4 len win.
Small Town Boss was good on debut running 2nd finishing 6 lens clear of 3rd. Both 1st and 2nd should go on.
The time was a very solid 1m03.69s which was a whopping 7.68lens better than
standard time – about 1.2s.
There were 2 other 1105m races on the day both slower than Baraqiel.
Race 2 – Mdn run in 1m03.69s Baraqiel carried 59.5kgs
Race 3 – 3yo Mdn run in 1m03.89s winner carried 56kgs
Race 8 – BM58 run in 1m04.41s winner carried 60kgs
Summary: This was a most impressive debut win by Baraqiel. It had been a long
wait but the big fella really showed his ability and class destroying this maiden and running very good time. Can see him continuing to progress here and should be very competitive in stronger grade next time out.
