Description
Fast and precocious, JEANNEAU was runner-up in the Listed Gimcrack Stakes (1000m) on debut as a juvenile, before posting a 1.8L win on December 26 at Randwick (1200m), where she defeated subsequent Group 2 Reisling Stakes winner FRENCH FERN.
This mare has an excellent breeding history with 6 foals on the ground from her first 6 visits to the covering shed. She unfortunately missed for the first time on a December 11 cover in 2023.
JEANNEAU’s offspring have proven popular at the yearling sales with 4 of her 5 yearlings offered at auction selling for $100k+, including $475k at Easter in 2022 for the promising now 3yo ZOUSTAR filly TAUTOU (5-0:2:1, twice runner-up at Canterbury) in the Waterhouse & Bott yard, $150k at Easter 2023 for a now 2yo unraced WRITTEN BY filly named VERSAILLE with Peter Moody, and $170k at Easter this year for a TRAPEZE ARTIST yearling colt which was purchased by Gary Portelli.
This mare has a first crop PORTLAND SKY weanling colt that will be offered as a yearling in 2025.
