- ZOUSTAR IS A SIRE SENSATION – Despite being only 13 years of age, Zoustar is the sire of 54 Stakes winners and 101 black type horses. He is currently the leading sire in Australia of winners (187), Stakes winners (15) and G1 winners (4) for the 2023/24 season. He is 8 years younger than Snitzel and Written Tycoon, and 6 years younger than I Am Invincible. Compare his performance to date with that of his peers at the equivalent stages of their careers and you get a very good sense of how good a sire Zoustar really is…
- HE’S ON AN UPWARD TRAJECTORY – Zoustar started his stud career incredibly well… His first 4 crops yielded the likes of Sunlight, Mizzy, Zoutori, Madame Rouge, Lean Mean Machine, Zousain, Haut Brion Her, The Astrologist etc. However, he has catapulted to a new level with his last 3 crops of racing age, his first crops conceived at fees of above $100,000. With those crops, his Stakes Winners/Runners ratio has gone up, his Black Type horses/Runners ratio has done up and he’s producing horses like Ozzmosis, Zougotcha, Joliestar, Climbing Star, C’Est Magique, North Star Lass, Espionage, Growing Empire, Zou Tiger, Olentia, Schwarz etc. It is an inescapable conclusion that Zoustar is doing better with better mares…
- BUYERS LOVE ZOUSTAR – He was the commercial revelation of the 2024 Australian yearling sales series. In 2024, Zoustar sired more yearling colts (6) to realise $1m or more at the sales than any other stallion. He had 7 $1m+ yearlings in total this year (conceived at $140,000+GST) – only I Am Invincible (10, conceived at $200,000+GST) had more. His tally of 32 $500,000+ yearlings was bettered only by Snitzel (36) and I Am Invincible (40).
- THE NEXT GENERATION – Zoustar’s son Zousain has made an excellent start at stud with his first runners in 2023/24, while his G1-winning son Ozzmosis is one of the most exciting retirees of 2024. The next wave of quality colts is led by the likes of Espionage, Growing Empire and Schwarz, amongst others. And his daughters are sale ring stunners too… Just look at the demand for the likes of Sunlight ($4.2m), Platinum Jubilee ($3.5m), Mizzy ($2.2m), C’Est Magique ($1.7m), North Star Lass ($1.55m) etc. when offered for sale off the track.
