Strongly made colt by King’s Legacy, out of a fast Sydney winning Zoustar mare.

King’s Legacy is a dual Group 1 winning 2yo by Champion Australian Sire and leading sire of sires Redoute’s Choice, whose sons at stud have included the successful stallions Snitzel, Not a Single Doubt, Stratum, Beneteau, Rafeef (South Africa), and the up-and-coming stallions The Autumn Sun and Alabama Express.

“A stallion’s pedigree.” King’s Legacy comes from a same family as Snippets and Not a Single Doubt. He is standing at Coolmore Stud at a service fee of $22,000 this year.

King’s Legacy had 131 live foals in his first crop – now yearlings. At this year’s Australasian yearling sales, they sold for up to $775,000, a colt purchased by James Harron Bloodstock. His colts (40 sold) have averaged $119,000 to date. At the recent Magic Millions National Weanling Sale, a colt from King’s Legacy’s second crop was purchased by WA’s leading owner Bob Peters for $240,000.

This colt is the second foal of the flying Zoustar mare Fanciful Dream, a winner of 6 races from 1000m to 1200m, including a win over the dual stakes winner Athiri over 1000m at Randwick.

Zoustar has sired more Group 1 winners in Australia this season than any other stallion, and currently sits in second place on the Australian Sires premiership. His 2024 service fee now sits at $275,000.

Zoustar has made a sensational start as a broodmare sire. From just 12 runners, his daughters have already produced 2 stakes winners (16.7% SW/Runners), both 2yo’s from this season – Holmes A Court (Group 3) and Discretion Rules (Listed). The latter stakes winner is bred on the same cross as this colt, being by a son of Redoute’s Choice in Alabama Express.

Fanciful Dream is a half-sister to 4 winners including $1.25 million HK earner Country Melody. Recent black type performers from this family include Kallos, a winner of the Group 2 MRC Rubiton Stakes in early February, and Bonny Ezra, a winner of the SCTC Gold Coast Cup last month.

Fanciful Dream’s first foal, a colt by Hellbent, sold at the 2023 Magic Millions National Weanling Sale for $80,000 to Kiwi traders Riversley Park. This colt is now in NZ. His owners plan to break him in and offer him for sale at the 2024 NZB 2yo Horses in Training sale, or to trial him up and then put him on the market as a going concern.
