Perfect Gem is a winning city placed daughter of proven stallion Iffraaj (GB) from the outstanding Group 1 winning mare Calveen (Canny Lad).
Perfect Gem has been set up to make it as a broodmare with coverings to date to gun stallions Written Tycoon, Zoustar and Too Darn Hot.
A lovely type who is correct with great bone and substance, Perfect Gem herself sold for $210,000 at the 2019 Karaka Premier Yearling Sale.
Perfect Gem’s first foal a colt by Written Tycoon is a cracking type who shone at the 2024 William Inglis Classic Sale. Offered by Riverstone Lodge this colt proved extremely popular with buyers eventually selling to Bjorn Baker/Avenue Bloodstock/Jim Clarke for $280,000.
Perfect Gem’s second foal is an outstanding filly by leading stallion Zoustar. This filly is strong, athletic and has loads of quality. She will make any of the major sales in 2025.
Importantly, Perfect Gem is offered in foal (LSD 21/11/23) to Too Darn Hot arguably the hottest young stallion on the planet!
With his eldest progeny European 3yo’s Too Darn Hot is already the sire of 14 individual stakes winner (11 Group winners) including the likes of Group 1 winners Broadsiding (ATC Champagne Stakes) and Fallen Angel (Irish One Thousand Guineas and Moyglare Stud Stakes).
Too Darn Hot, who’s 2024 service fee at Darley Australia is $110,000 is also the sire of Group 2 winners Darnation and Etes Vous Prets.
In Australia Too Darn Hot has made an electric start with Broadsiding vying for champion 2yo honours as well as Magic Millions Classic 2yo winner Arabian Summer, Group 2 placed winner Too Darn Lizzie and city winners Perspiration, Tartaglia, Hezdarnhottoo and Tropicus.
Too Darn Hot has been very popular in the sales ring in Australia with his progeny selling for $1,900,000 (ex A Time For Julia), $1,000,000 (ex Enbihaar), $750,000 (Lady Sayyida), $625,000 (ex Duvessa), $600,000 (Hell its Hot). Importantly, many of these sales occurred before Too Darn Hot’s best results in Australia!
Too Darn Hot was specifically selected for Perfect Gem based on pedigree and complimentary conformation and interestingly, from a future selling perspective he has just over 100 mares due to foal this season.
With his success all over the world it would not surprise if we don’t see this horse venture down under in future years. His value continues to soar and we have previously seen European stars such as Dubawi, Teofilo and Shamardal kept at home after they became too valuable.
