Description
Summer Loving is a 3YO filly by Exceed And Excel out of the 3-time winning Sebring mare Serena Bay who was purchased by Kia Ora for $360,000 as a barren mare at last year's Edinburgh Park dispersal sale. She was very talented and a 2YO Golden Gift winner for Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott. Kia Ora put her in foal to Exceed and Excel last spring, so Serena Bay is due to foal a full sibling to Summer Loving this coming August. Serena Bay is the dam of 3 foals to race for 2 winners. Her first foal, West Of Africa (Not A Single Doubt gelding) is a Sydney City winner of 3 races including a win over 1400m at Warwick Farm last month. Summer Loving (Exceed And Excel filly) is her second foal who was purchased as a yearling for $420,000 by Gai and Adrian. Her third foal Alinea (Written Tycoon filly) is a 2YO and she was also purchased by Gai & Adrian for $420,000 at the 2023 Magic Millions Yearling Sale. Alinea is a talented filly who has run 5th in the Group 3 Gimcrack Stakes and 6th in the Group 3 Widden Stakes in her two career starts to date. Her next preparation kicks off in a 2YO fillies maiden at Randwick on 17 July. Serena Bay’s 4th foal is a yearling filly by Snitzel who was purchased by Sheamus Mills for $1.25m at the 2024 Magic Millions Sale and her fifth foal will be the Exceed And Excel foal she is currently carrying.
The opportunity to purchase stakes performed Exceed And Excel mares off the track is going to be limited going forward due to the fact he is now retired from stud duties. In the past six years he has sired 6 stakes winning daughters in Australia.

Summer Loving has raced 10 times for 1 win and 4 placings and amassed over $390,000 in prizemoney. On debut she ran 3rd in the $1M Golden Gift to Barber and Infatuation. She ran 3rd in the Magic Millions 2YO Classic at her third start behind Skirt The Law and our Group 3 Gimcrack winner, Platinum Jubilee. She competed in Group company for most of her racing career and finished 4th in the Group 2 Furious Stakes and 5th in the Group 2 Tea Rose Stakes. She broke her maiden on 19th June at Canterbury on a soft track over 1250m.
