Description
6 Starts for just 1 x 2nd doesn’t read well, but this son of Shalaa deserves your consideration.
We have learnt the hard way, through our hip pockets that he despises wet tracks, but he has been up in the middle of winter and it’s been a particularly wet one in SA throughout 2024.
We also learnt last start another valuable lesson– he’s a horse that is better ridden with a sit, we have tried to put him on pace in South Australia but his better NSW form suggests he likes time to balance up and find the line. So, we had the double whammy last start of being driven on speed and a horrible wet track, so it really was a forgive run.
However, our team of owners have lost patience with him. He is a summer galloper, on top of the ground, and is more than capable of winning races at that time of year, however we are not prepared to give him another spell and start over again for a horse that will not be measuring up to Adelaide metro grade.
The time has come to say goodbye to a horse that has shown ability but is exceptionally frustrating. Note: 3 on his 6 starts were on rain affected ground which we know doesn’t suit but what can we do? You have to run on the surfaces as they present.
On the occasions we’ve run him on firm ground, he ran 4th at Newcastle, 5th at Kembla & 2nd at Bathurst. They were all terrific efforts in much stronger grade than his current form.
This is a horse that would suit an area with a drier climate. He would be ideal for country grade in VIC or SA he can get those dry tracks. Alternatively, he’d make a lovely galloper in the NT. He has plenty of natural speed and is easy to ride and a gentleman to have in your stable.
The time has come to say goodbye, and we trust soon, we will be watching him enter the winner’s circle for his new owners.
We have given his new buyer the keys to him – dry tracks and don’t be so aggressive early. The rest is up to your ability to place him to advantage. A short break now and back in work you’ll have a lot of fun in the right grade between November to February or alternatively push on if you can take him to where he will have confidence on firm ground.
Whilst we share the above details, we always recommend potential purchasers should arrange their own vet inspection to rely upon.
As with all Dynamic Syndications managed horses Val D’Isere is offered unreserved to dissolve the co-ownership and is on the market from the opening bid.
