O’CALDINO
4YO Bay gelding by DUNDEEL (NZ) out of TIDES
A quality staying type, this lightly raced gelding has had just the eight starts for two seconds and a third. His owners have decided to focus on their younger more precocious stock coming through, so he has a bright future ahead of him in the staying ranks - as he is simply looking for further!
Having had just the eight runs, he has every opportunity to break his maiden and work his way through the grades for his new owners. With the lucrative prizemoney available in the staying races throughout Victoria and New South Wales he has the potential to develop into a lovely 2000m + horse.
His last start was the 27th of September where he ran sixth. He has pulled up sound and licked the bin post run. His residual fitness means he is up and running and ready to immediately go on with for his new trainer.
O’CALDINO is a stunning specimen, being a $400,000 yearling. His full brother COLUMBUS sold for $1.5million as a yearling to a powerhouse ownership group at the Easter sale this year.
He hails from an incredible family, with his dam being a full-sister to GROUNDSWELL as well as G1 superstar SHOALS who was crowned Champion 3YO filly in Australia having won the G1 VRC Myer Classic, G1 ATC Surround Stakes, the G1 SAJC Robert Sangster Stakes and won or placed in an unbelievable further 8x stakes races.
The family also includes the great SHANTHA’S CHOICE who is the dam of PLATINUM SCISSORS, REDOUTE’S CHOICE, MANHATTAN RAIN, ECHOES OF HEAVEN and SLIDING CUBE (who is the dam of RUBICK). A superior family it extends to the G2 winning mare SUMMER SHAM who is the dam of up-and-coming star SCHWARZ (by ZOUSTAR) who recently won the G2 Missile Stakes at Randwick.
