This classy 2yo by Rommel is ready to run! He’s well grown, powerful and correct with a good attitude to life. He is just under 16hh and weighs 528kg. He has been gelded and is ready to go straight to the breakers.
Rommel was second (behind Playing God) in the 2024 2yo sires list in WA and continues to produce winners week on week. He had 10 individual 2yo runners including the very tough and consistent Battle Commander who amassed over $180,000 in stakes with his win and 4 placings (including a second to Bustling) and finishing just behind the placegetters with a gutsy 4th in the Sire Produce.
With the first 2yo race of 2025 just around the corner, Rommel has already had 6 to trial, with several of these showing that they will be up and about early in the season.
Rommel’s progeny improve with age and distance, having winners from 1000m to 2000m and beyond and include the recent multiple Saturday winner Desert Nymph ($220,000) and the smart multiple Hong Kong winner Tourbillon Prince (raced in Perth as Pale Rider).
The dam of this 2yo is a daughter of the Golden Slipper winner in Stratum who not only established himself as a quality sire, but also a wonderful broodmare sire. Her first dam line is full of winners including the Group winner Pillar of Hercules and three other stakes performers, but her second dam line is pure gold from the great race mare and producer Fitting and her offspring Catbird, Danbird as well as the Group and stakes winners Outrageous, Very Tempting and Centre Pivot.
While his two siblings to race have been impacted by injuries, this gelding and his yearling half-sister (by Safeguard) are showing the qualities needed to become successful racehorses…
Please note this horse is being offered for unreserved sale due to significant health issues experienced by the owner who sadly is now unable to continue with his development. A copy of the original scope and x-ray report are now attached (both done in May 24). The horse has just been gelded and spelled since his purchase.
