Description
A recently turned four-year-old gelding by Tarzino, with a pedigree relating back to TE AKAU SHARK, this consistent and lightly raced galloper was a winner less than a month ago, having previously placed twice at metropolitan level in Brisbane.
Out of a six-time winning mare in Pondarosa Miss, who has had three to the races for two winners, Taranaki is typical of the New Zealand bred geldings, who just needed a bit of time. He hasn’t had a lot of luck in his races but would make a nice stayer in an easier racing jurisdiction having won over the 2200m distance.
Taranaki went to the paddock on the 30th of September as a sound horse and could easily continue on with his preparation but would benefit from a short freshen up. He is not going to be competitive enough in the city grade and is therefore being sold to dissolve the partnership.
