Description
A young, unexposed well credentialed mare, Duenna should appeal as a mare who’d fit into any well-established broodmare band. She was well performed on the track, a winner and seven time placed from just 14 race starts and has an exceptional pedigree, one that looks well placed to keep improving.
She is out of the well-bred stakes winning Commands mare Palomares, who in turn is a half-sister to champion 2yo EARTHQUAKE (Gr1 Blue Diamond winner, over $1.7 Million in earnings) as well as the stakes winning and multiple stakes placed PANDEMIC. This is a young, improving family that looks sure to keep adding to its already strong black type heritage. Bearing in mind that Earthquake is already the dam of three stakes performers and with other close relations currently in foal to the likes of Home Affairs, Snitzel, Street Boss & Toronado etc it bodes extremely well for the future.
Duenna is already proven both on the track and in the sales ring. Her only foal to race is a winner and city placed 2yo this season named Zealously, he was a $270,000 yearling. Her second foal by Trapeze Artist was a $90,000 yearling purchase by the astute Blake Ryan, this colt then went on to fetch $230,000 as the recent 2yo in training sale. She is being sold back in foal on an early September service to TRAPEZE ARTIST to produce a full sibling to that colt. The resulting foal will be bred on the same cross which has produced the stakes performed 2yo Artistica.
TRAPEZE ARTIST was crowned Champion Second Season Sire last season with earnings of $6.62 Million and sired more individual winners than Gr.1 producing stallions JUSTIFY, HARRY ANGEL & GRUNT. His progeny include Gr.1 Caulfied Guineas winner GRIFF, Gr.3 winners DUCASSE & FACILE, 2YO Magic Millions placegetter SPYWIRE, Gr.2 placed juvenile FLY FLY, Gr.3 placed CONCELLO, as well as the stakes placed quartet FLYING TRAPEZE, INTRODUCING, REBECCHI & ARTISTICA.
