The scope for upside in this mare is immense and should pique the interest of both commercial and breed to race operations.
NORTH ENGLAND’S ROAD TO THE GOLDEN SLIPPER
NORTH ENGLAND’S racetrack performance thus far gives every indication that he is a one of Australia’s pre-eminent 2YOs. A winner of the $1M Group 3 Golden Gift on his most recent start and an unlucky 3rd in the Group 3 Breeders’ Plate on debut where he demonstrated his natural speed in leading up the field. North England has been favoured in the market on both occasions, which is testament to his quality.
On performance ratings, this colt has shown improvement between his first and second start, with Daniel O’Sullivan noting “his ability to control the race [and show] strong acceleration between the 400m and 200m is a good sign for his future potential.”
After his Golden Gift victory, the colt is now firmly on a path to a Golden Slipper berth and is being respected in the market accordingly.

Our Belisa is carrying a three-quarter relation to NORTH ENGLAND by the most well supported young stallion to ever stand at Newgate, Stay Inside, who has covered yet another full book in 2024. His first weanlings sold up to $400,000 and he has 42 yearlings entered for sale in the upcoming Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale. In purchasing this mare, the resultant buyer will also gain exposure to the best set up young stallion in Newgate’s history, having covered 65 stakes winners or performers in his first book alone. Stay Inside provides enormous potential for an upswing on the basis that he’s been heavily supported throughout his career at stud to date.
AN ELITE BROODMARE’S PROFILE BEYOND HER SON
Our Belisa is carrying what will be only her fourth foal, with a long and prosperous broodmare career ahead of her. Her sire, Lope De Vega is currently operating at 5.06% SW/R as a broodmare sire with his daughters still in their relative youth at stud. In Australia, yearlings out of Lope De Vega mares have already been seen to make a huge impact in the sales ring, having sold up $650,000 in 2024.
On the racetrack, Our Belisa herself ran to a 96 WFA rating on Daniel O’Sullivan’s scale, comparable to ratings achieved by stakes winners and performers
