Bento Knight is a fully sound, lightly raced now 4yo by Dundeel who will be seen to best advantage over 1600m+. He has shown good ability in trials however has been relatively injury prone to date.

Prior to racing, in October 2023 he was diagnosed with bilateral tibial stress fractures via scintigraphy (report attached), from which the prognosis was very good for a full recovery with proper management. He returned to full soundness after box rest then a spell without incident.

On debut on a Heavy 10 over 1200m he was all at sea on the wet track and with the benefit of hindsight the race was far too short regardless. Three weeks later he went to a strong Maiden over the Mildura Carnival and closed off very well over 1400m, looking a coming winner. Three weeks later he was well supported in a 1600m Maiden at Terang however never travelled, was beaten 23 lengths and subsequently pulled up with a suspected stress fracture of his left hind canon bone (report attached). Scintigraphy was not undertaken however the horse is now fully sound again after 6wks box rest and 7wks paddock rest.

He has genuinely shown reasonable ability to win multiple races somewhere weaker than Victoria, has been looked after well right through and is now rested and sound to resume full work in a new stable.

Bento Knight is easy to do anything with and deserves another chance after the rehabilitation period he’s had.
