Keeneland is a stakes-winning, G3 placed 3yo son of Almanzor who progressed through to the G1 Victoria Derby in what was just his first racing preparation.

He has a record that reads 6: 2-1-1 and has a current Victorian rating of 78.

After storming to the line for an unlucky and narrow 2nd placing at his second career start at Benalla, Keeneland would quickly atone at his following - a soft 3L victory over 1600m at the same circuit.

An impressive 1.25L winner of the Listed Super Impose Stakes at Flemington at start four put Keeneland in the frame as a leading Victoria Derby contender.

He would go on to run a close-up 3rd with the slow tempo against him in the G3 Norman Robinson over 2000m at Caulfield before simply coming to the end of his prep in the G1 Victoria Derby.

Keeneland has further Autumn Derby goals in mind (whether they be Sydney, Adelaide or Brisbane is still to be determined) upon his scheduled return to work with trainers Trent Busuttin & Natalie Young (Cranbourne, VIC) in mid-December.

Keeneland is sound and has no injury history. He did undergo a minor procedure in November when it was discovered he was entrapping his epiglottis. This was successful and is not forecast to have any lasting affects.
