Description
Commercial breeders please note. PODCAST is a GREAT TYPE. She also comes from a PROFILIC 2YO PRODUCING FAMILY. It is also a family which within 2 generations has produced nearly 50 HORSES WHICH HAVE SOLD FOR $100,000 AND ABOVE at the Australasian yearling and 2yo sales (TOP PRICE $700,000).
PODCAST is very lightly raced, having faced the starter on just four occasions. She showed an excellent turn of foot to come from last at the 400m to break her Maiden over 1550m at Murwillumbah late last year. She has raced only the once since that win and was subsequently spelled. Her ownership group are looking to race Metropolitan class horses. Her connections feel she will be better suited to provincial or country races.
PODCAST is a daughter of Champion Australian 2YO Microphone. From a small number of runners, his best performers have been the Stakes Placed fillies Matisse (2nd VRC Vanity S., Group.3, 3rd MRC Blue Diamond Prelude (f), Group.2, MRC Blue Diamond Preview (f), Group.3, 4th MRC Thousand Guineas, Group.1) and Abbakiss (2nd WRC Wellesley S., Listed), as well as Brisbane winners Pulpit and Love ‘n’ Games.
Microphone is a son of Champion Australian Sire Exceed and Excel, a phenomenal stallion who has produced over 200 Stakes Winners including over 100 Group Winners worldwide, and over $280 million in progeny earnings. Exceed and Excel has also been a hugely successful broodmare sire, finishing in the top ten on the Australian Broodmare Sires List for the past four seasons.
PODCAST is out of the Brisbane 2yo winner Zoom By, a particularly well related mare. Zoom By’s dam Zippast produced thirteen named foals, all raced, for twelve winners, a modern-day rarity. Daughters and granddaughters of Zippast have subsequently produced nearly TWENTY BLACK TYPE HORSES including the likes of Group performers Kiwia ($1,119,750), Lite’N in My Veins ($809,090), Outlaws Revenge ($590,700), Tuscan Sling ($405,400), Written Beauty ($498,625), as well as Hi World, Loveyamadly, Immortal Love, Ducimus and I’mlovin’Ya.
THIS FAMILY IS GUARANTEED TO KEEP PRODUCING MORE BLACK TYPE PERFORMERS. Her dam Zoom By, has an unraced 2yo filly by Spirit of Boom (a $250,000 MM Gold Coast yearling purchase by Lindsay Park), a 1yo colt by Bivouac (a $140,000 MM Gold Coast yearling purchase by Mick Price), a 2024 filly by Spirit of Boom, and she was covered again by Spirit of Boom last season. PODCAST went to the paddock sound on 28 January for a spell following her most recent start on 24 January. The ownership group have decided to move her on and concentrate on younger horses coming through to race at metropolitan level. When she is eventually retired from racing, we expect Podcast to let down into a lovely broodmare. With so much upside in her family, Podcast presents as a fantastic opportunity for commercial breeders. She is for genuine sale and sells unreserved. The filly has no vices but does require an experienced trackwork rider.
