Description
IS THIS THE PERFECT MAIDEN?
WIMOWEH is very lightly raced Maiden, who has had her foot on the till on several occasions during her last preparation in which she twice finished second (beaten 0.8 lengths and 1.2 lengths) and twice finished third (beaten 0.8 lengths and 3.9 lengths). And although unplaced at her last start, she was still only 2 lengths from the winner! Her ownership group are looking to race Metropolitan class horses. Her connections feel she will be better suited to provincial or country races.
WIMOWEH is a daughter of Champion Australian 2yo Microphone. From a small number of runners, his best performers have been the Stakes Placed fillies Matisse (2nd VRC Vanity S., Group.3, 3rd MRC Blue Diamond Prelude (f), Group.2, MRC Blue Diamond Preview (f), Group.3, 4th MRC Thousand Guineas, Group.1) and Abbakiss (2nd WRC Wellesley S., Listed), as well as Brisbane winners Pulpit and Love ‘n’ Games.
Microphone is a son of Champion Australian Sire Exceed and Excel, a phenomenal stallion who has produced over 200 Stakes Winners including over 100 Group Winners worldwide, and over $280 million in progeny earnings. Exceed and Excel has also been a hugely successful broodmare sire, finishing in the top ten on the Australian Broodmare Sires List for the past four seasons.
When WIMOWEH has finished her racing career, she has the looks and the pedigree to make into a nice broodmare for her owners. She is in the top 10 most expensive selling yearlings by her sire Microphone, which emphasises her good physique and conformation, as well as the strong and precocious female line which she comes from.
Her dam Oxford Heart was a Sydney winner and Listed Race placed in the Wyong RC Mona Lisa Stakes. At stud she has already produced two other winners. After foaling WIMOWEH, she produced a 2023 colt by Champion European racehorse St Mark’s Basilica, a 2024 colt by up-and-coming young stallion Harry Angel, and last season she was covered by Zoustar’s Group 1 winning son Ozzmosis. Her page can only continue to improve.
WIMOWEH is closely related to King Kirk, who after winning the Group 3 ATC Breeders’ Plate at his first start last October, was elevated to 2025 Golden Slipper favourite. Tragically he died in a swimming pool mishap while in training at Randwick a couple of months later.
This has been such a good female family. A very fast family which has produced the likes of 2yo Stakes Winners, the aforementioned King Kirk, Mother Duck (AJC Gimcrack Stakes – Gr.3), Atomic (MRC Chairman’s Stakes – LR), and Fake Love (MRC Debutant Stakes – LR), as well as other Stakes Winners such as Quackerjack (ATC Villiers Stakes – Gr.2), Office (AJC Surround Stakes – Gr.2), Oxford Poet (Listed Race winner of over $700,000), Lady’s Angel (Listed Race winner/Gr.1 placed in the AJC Galaxy Hcp, earning over $400,000), Alberto Magic (ATC Maurice McCarten Stakes – Gr.3), Anatina (Listed Race winner/Gr.1 placed in the AJC Galaxy Hcp), Sugar Boom (Listed Race winner of nearly $500,000), and 2024-25 season 3yo Stakes Winer Perspiration (ATC Heritage Stakes – Listed Race).
WIMOWEH went to the paddock sound on 10 February following her most recent start on 8 February. She is for genuine sale and sells unreserved. The filly has no vices, is quiet to handle and exercise.
