Description
A four-time winner of over $110,000 in prize money over sprint distances, Maddox has already produced one well conformed foal in her own image, and is sure to repeat the action with her September mating to G1 Coolmore Stud Stakes winner Exceedance. The daughter of Deep Field has been well mated; Exceedance is already the sire of four stakeswinners from two crops to race, including the promising Listed winner Swiftfalcon, also out of a Northern Meteor line mare. 2YO Colt Broadsiding, Swiftfalcon looks well-placed to break through in the G1 Randwick Guineas this weekend.
The Exceed And Excel x Encosta De Lago line is a proven cross; that direct cross performs at 11% stakes winners to runners, and Exceed And Excel over Northern Meteor has produced 20% stakes winners to runners from limited numbers. Deep Field has had seven runners as a broodmare sire to date, for four winners. The cross carried by Maddox is rated a 20/20 mating by Stallion Match, with a pedigree very similar to that of rising star sire Bivouac.
A short coupled mare, Maddox is a strong and correct type. She is sure to continue to stamp her foals with the same powerful hindquarter and, at 157cm tall, she suits a range of sprinting stallions in the future. In the meantime, the buyer is sure to be rewarded at a major yearling sale, with progeny of Exceedance selling for up to $520,000 at public auction.
She comes from an active and black type heavy family, being a daughter of
metropolitan-winning Fastnet Rock mare Cobblestones, a half-sister to Listed VRC St Leger winner Dornier, out of Listed Hobart Guineas winner Deloraine, who was also placed in the G1 Coolmore Classic. Cobblestone has offspring by All Too Hard and So You Think to follow. Further out, the family has stakes representation in the United States, Japan, and Europe.
Maddox is being sold unreserved as part of a deceased estate.
