Description
Portfolia is a 4YO mare by Capitalist out of the Group 3 winning High Chaparral mare, Top Of My List. Her second dam, Beauty Watch, won the Group 3 Hawkesbury Gold Cup and placed in multiple Group 1 races. She also hails from the same family as Group 1 winner Princess Jenni, and Champion Stayer in Singapore, Bahana.
Portfolia was purchased for $220,000 from the 2022 Inglis Easter Sale. She is lightly raced with just 3 starts to her name for 2 placings. Her last run was on the 5th October at Newcastle over 1200m.
On the 15th of February 2024 Portfolia was examined at the Randwick stables of Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott. The mare was trotting II/V lame near fore, though flexion of the near fore knee induced a grade III/V lameness. The mare had previously been diagnosed with moderate sclerosis of the radial facet of the near fore third carpal. This was also examined through computer tomography imaging which identified maladaptive remodelling injury to the near fore third carpal bone. Given the recurrence of lameness and advanced degree of third carpal bone sclerosis it has been recommended to retire Portfolia from racing.
