Description
It is extremely rare in the racing world that a horse is offered for sale racing in career best form and is sound, but this is the case for Human Shield. Human is one of last progeny of the late American sire King Cugat, considered by many to be the premier middle distance grass horse in North America during his 3 and 4 year old years. His dam is the Shamus Award mare Shattered Award, with Shamus already making his name as a potential broodmare sire with daughters such as Another Award selling for over 1 million dollars.
As a young racehorse Human Shield showed potential however he was hindered by mental and physical immaturity. As a result he was given an extensive amount of time in the paddock to develop in both these areas, and this was the making of this young gelding.
He came back into work as an attractive and strong 4yo. Brought in slowly and steadily due to the time off, it was decided to take this horse to picnic grade to boost his confidence and give him an environment to improve his craft. This reaped rewards with Human Shield breaking his maiden and finishing 2nd in a photo finish in another picnic race. He was then taken out of picnic grade and raced in country NSW in a benchmark race in which he just missed winning by a whisker running another courageous 2nd showing he is well and truly competitive at country benchmark racing. His growing maturity and versatility was highlighted here as he took a sit rather than his usual front running style, which allowed him to come home strongly and get over further ground. This young horse is still learning what racing is all about and has further improvement to make. Human Shield loves to race and will give his new home a lot of fun around the country circuit. He is a pleasure to have around the stables as he eats like a champion, enjoys working hard and is good to ride, swim, treadmill, water walk ect. Vet check welcome.
