Description
Shalane is a 3-year-old filly by the well-regarded stallion Shalaa, out of the Not a Single Doubt mare Daisy Lane. With strong pedigree credentials, she boasts Group 1-winning Captain Sonador in her second dam and is a half-sister to city-placed 2yo Desert Flame. The Shalaa x Not a Single Doubt cross has already proven successful, producing four winners from six to race, including the Magic Millions 2yo winner Shaquero.
She was given the time and patience to mature, winning a trial at Scone on 12/2/25, with ease. She’s since raced twice, with her debut performance being a pass, while her second run was below expectations—due to several factors, including a quick 11-day backup in 37-degree heat and a step up in distance to 1300m from the 1000m of her first start, which may have been too soon for her.
This sound, fit filly has been spelling since 17/3/25 and is ready to resume her training. Shalane offers a fantastic opportunity for a trainer looking to secure a few wins in easier company, especially as she remains BOBS Eligible. With her solid pedigree, good foundation, and proven ability, she’s an ideal candidate for racing success in the near future.
