Description
Fantastic opportunity to purchase DIAMOND BETTY, an unraced three-year-old who has been in work with Kerry Parker at Kembla Grange. She was getting ready to trial but has pulled up sore (maybe arthritis in her knee) which has now curtailed her immediate racing career. She is otherwise sound, has a lovely nature and is not lame at all.
DIAMOND BETTY was retained by her breeder (me – 40%) with friends and I am disappointed she hasn’t raced to date. As such we are now dissolving the partnership.
Another gebuine reason for sale - as I have too many thoroughbreds on my farm at present I am forced to sell her now.
DIAMOND BETTY is out of the very smart Sprinter DIAMOND BARONESS, by WRITTEN TYCOON. A winner on debut at two, Diamond Baroness’ five victories include a benchmark 84 at Flemington and she also finished a close fourth in the Group Three VRC Frances Tressady Stakes over 1400m. DIAMOND BETTY is her only living foal and unfortunately Diamond Baroness had to be euthanised shortly after foaling Diamond Betty.
Whilst DIAMOND BARONESS was not offered for sale as a yearling, her full-sister VOGUE ROCK sold for $240,000 at the 2018 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale when selling to Dalziel Racing and Peter Moody. VOGUE ROCK was a winner and is now a broodmare.
DIAMOND BETTY’s first three dams have a combined winners to runners strike rate of 75%.
PRIZED ICON (More than Ready) - A winner of the Group One ATC Champagne Stakes (1600m) and the Group One VRC Victoria Derby (2500m). PRIZED ICON’s has 26 wins and 43 placings from 54 starters.
WRITTEN TYCOON and MORE THAN READY have already proven to nick (i.e. produce winners when closely related) extremely well with each other - the pair have an impressive 70% winners to runners strike rate with over 10.6% Stakes horses to runners including the Group One-winning fillies COOLANGATTA and LA LUNA ROSSA.
