Description
This sharp, well-balanced colt is the first foal out of the Charge Forward mare, Single Charge. There are few better than Charge Forward as a broodmare sire, responsible for the likes of superstar performers SUNLIGHT, SHE WILL REIGN, ESTIJAAB etc.
He is from a rich, black type family, full of speed and precocity which include outstanding 2yo Amelia’s Dream, dam of smart 2yo Better Land and the grand dam of current Gr.3 winning filly Amelita. With several closely related mares now at stud, it’s a family which looks sure to keep growing.
The colt is by the incredibly underrated son of Sebring, GOLD STANDARD. A Champion Victorian First Season Sire, he was able to produce SHEEZA BELTER to win the Gr.1 JJ Atkins stakes from his very first crop of minimal runners. Still doing a fantastic job at stud despite the limited number of runners, MERRIGOLD was able to bring her 7th win by collecting the Vobis Gold Distaff at Caulfield just last week. With more runners hitting the track each season, it’s not hard to imagine producing another top liner sooner rather than later. His yearlings have sold up to $100,000 this year, going to show the faith buyers still have in this incredibly underrated stallion.
