Description

Cruz De Vega (AUS) is 10yo broodmare by Lope De Vega (IRE) out of Dushyantor (USA) mare Cuchurita (CHI). She is a 4 time winner from just 14 starts with 3 minor placings and achieved a career high BM72 prior to her retirement from the track in 2019. Cruz is out of a sister to G1 winner Candy Doll and her dam Cuchurita herself was 4th in a Group 1 and Group 2. The family has great depth with black type flooding the second and third dams.

She has successfully delivered It'smemario by Brave Smash (JPN) as her first foal. It'smemario was a 5 time winner and won or placed 13 times from 20 starts, banking more than $123k in prize money, including the Warwick Cup in 2024.

Cruz has a 2yo by Highland Reel who is currently being registered (name pending) and will be trialling with Matt Dunn in the next 4 weeks. He has shown excellent ability and impressed Matt and stable staff.

Cruz also delivered a healthy I am Immortal foal in September 2024 who is being retained by Edge. Like her other foals, he is an excellent type and is growing strongly.

Cruz has excellent compatibility with Kobayashi and unfortunately, she missed to him in 2024. Given the late cover, she is having a break this year.

She is an excellent mum, has no vices and is only being moved on so we can manage our ongoing racing commitments. She a had LF Keratoma removed in May 2025 and has been completely sound since the removal (copy of report attached). She would be suitable for an early cover in 2025 and is being sold unreserved.
