Field of Poppies' first dam, Fairytale Ending (AUS), is by champion sire and broodmare sire, Redoute's Choice. Fairytale Ending is a half sister to the extremely well performed 2YO Reemah (AUS). Reemah ran 2nd in the Group 1 MRC Blue Diamond Stakes.

Field of Poppies' 2nd dam, Vormista, was an elite racemare placing 3 times in Group 1 events. The highlights of her racing career were finishing 2nd in both the Group 1 MVRC Manikato Stakes and the Group 1 Australia Stakes.

Field of Poppies is by Deep Field, and, like her sire, she is powerfully built. She is an imposing mare with great size and substance.

Field of Poppies was covered by emerging young stallion Dirty Work on 12 November 2025 but did not get in foal. She is in excellent health and will be ready for an early cover in the 2025 breeding season.
